Day to Day itinerary

Day 1 : Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park en route to Zziwa for rhino tracking. Drive time: Approx. 5-6 hrs.

We hope your flight is scheduled for an early landing at Entebbe Airport, you will be received and welcomed to the Pearl of Africa by the assigned Professional English-speaking Private Trip Guide. Then you will hit the road to transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. The major highlight of this park is its roaring rapids and the rolling savannah plains of Uganda’s largest National Park. You will pass via Zziwa for a one-hour rhino tracking, proceed to Masindi for your en-route lunch, and continue to Murchison Falls National Park. You will arrive in the evening and do little but check into your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 2 : Murchison morning game drive and afternoon boat trip to the base of the falls:

After an early breakfast head for a thrilling game drive, catching sight of majestic lions, graceful giraffes, imposing African elephants, herds of buffaloes, giraffes, and elusive leopards (though hard to spot) among others that find sanctuary in this pristine wilderness. Return to accommodation for lunch and some rest time.

Later in the afternoon, go for an exhilarating boat cruise along the iconic Nile River, leading you to the base of the awe-inspiring Murchison Falls where the Nile River forces its way through a narrow gorge, creating the awe-inspiring Murchison Falls. As you glide through the serene waters, keep an eye out for crocodiles, elephants, hippos, and a variety of water birds. Get up close to the thunderous falls, feeling the raw power of nature and capturing unforgettable moments of this breathtaking spectacle. Optional (at an extra cost) If you like, hike to the top of the falls, The hike may be a strenuous one but the thrill of reaching the thrill of reaching the top is unforgettable. This adventure is a must-do when exploring Uganda’s Murchison Falls National Park, promising a thrilling and unforgettable experience.

Day 3 : Drive to the top of the falls and depart Murchison National Park for Kibale Forest National Park. Drive time: Approx. 4-5 hrs.

Be up early and drive to the top of the falls to have a closer view of the falls and enjoy your breakfast at the top of the falls an experience that will leave you fascinated and thereafter transfer to Kibale Forest National Park. This drive is incredibly scenic passing through villages, lush green countryside, and hills dotted with tea plantations which characterize this part of Uganda. The major highlight of Kibale National Park is its primates like the chimpanzees, the colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, and red-tailed monkeys. While trekking chimpanzees, these are regularly seen swinging on the forest trees and others feeding on the forest fruits. You will arrive in Kibale in the evening and do little but check into accommodation for dinner and relax to prepare for the next day.

Day 4 : Kibale Chimpanzee tracking experience.

Have an early breakfast and head to the ranger’s post for a short briefing on the dos and don’ts during chimp trekking. Embark on a captivating chimpanzee trek, led by expert guides who’ll help you spot these charismatic creatures and after spotting the chimps you will be allowed one hour in the presence of these human close relatives learning their way of life, playing, and way of feeding. Also expect to see the cheeky red colobus monkeys and the l’Hoest’s monkey, among others adding to the primate spectacle. Return to the lodge for lunch and have a relaxing evening at the lodge.

Day 5 : Exit Kibale National Park, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and proceed for the afternoon/evening game drive. Drive time: Approx. 2-3 hrs.

Have an early breakfast and then, transfer from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth. The major highlight of Queen NP is that it features diverse ecosystems and is called home to a variety of wild species which include primates like chimpanzees, and other wildlife like elephants, buffalos, tree climbing lions (Ishasha) among others, and a variety of bird species for birders.

You will reach Queen and check into your accommodation for lunch and some rest time and later go for an afternoon/evening game drive where you will expect to spot wildlife like elephants, cape buffalos, waterbucks, and Uganda Kobs among others. Return to your accommodation for a relaxing evening and overnight.

Day 6 : Queen morning game drive and afternoon boat trip along Kazinga channel.

After an early breakfast head for a morning game drive along the Kasenyi plains and be on the look for wildlife such as; cape buffalos, waterbucks, elephants, lions, leopards (though hard to spot), and bushbucks, among others which will leave you amazed. Return to your accommodation for lunch and some rest time.

Later in the afternoon, take 2 hours on a scenic boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel which connects Lake George and Lake Albert, expect to catch sight of wildlife like hippos in a big concentration, elephants, crocodiles, and various water birds such as the African fish eagle, the African skimmer, and the yellow-billed stork among others and this experience will fascinate you.  Return to the lodge for a relaxing evening.

Day 7 : Depart Queen en route to Ishasha sector for tree climbing lions and transfer to Bwindi National Park. Drive time. Approx. 3-4 hrs.

After an early breakfast checkout proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable NP Park, The major highlight of this park is its endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat and a variety of bird species. Bwindi harbors over 400 mountain gorillas which is roughly more than half of the total number of total the world’s gorilla population. En route Ishasha sector which is famously known for its resident tree-climbing lions. Spotting these unique creatures as they laze on the branches of fig trees will paint lasting memories. (Though sometimes they are hard to spot) You will also be able to spot other wildlife such as Uganda Kobs, cape buffalos, elephants, and warthogs in addition to tree-climbing lions, and then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable NP arriving in the late afternoon just check in for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 : Bwindi Gorilla trekking Experience and afternoon transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. Drive time. Approx: 2-3 hrs.

Have breakfast and move to the rangers’ post. You will receive some briefing (from a ranger guide) on the dos and don’ts during trekking. Thereafter, you will enter the gorilla sanctuary for your adventure. The beauty of this rainforest is spectacular! The area offers a dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. The time taken and the terrain vary with the movements of these great primates. Once you have located a gorilla group, you will be allowed an hour in their presence. The thrill of spending time observing these gentle but endangered giants is unforgettable. Return to the accommodation for some rest time and lunch and later transfer to Lake Bunyonyi, you will arrive in the evening and relax by the lake.

Day 9 : Go explore Lake Bunyonyi, and enjoy a canoe ride and afternoon relaxation at the lodge.

After breakfast go for a canoe trek on Lake Bunyonyi which will introduce you to the major islands and their rich history but also there will be some great time spent in the traditional dugout canoe. Return to your accommodation for lunch and relaxation.

Day 10 : Morning community visit/interaction and transfer to Rwanda through Katuna/Gatuna Boarder. Drive time. Approx: 4-5 hrs.

After breakfast, visit and interact with the local community (the Pygmies) who inhabit areas surrounding Lake Bunyonyi. Embrace the warm hospitality of these remarkable people as they share their ancient customs, dance, and music. Engage in traditional activities like, gathering, and creating intricate handicrafts, all while gaining profound insights into their spiritual connection with nature like medicinal plants and their significance in Pygmy culture. Learn about the healing powers and spiritual symbolism attached to each plant, creating an unparalleled understanding of their intimate bond with nature. Thereafter, you will transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Rwanda fondly known as “a land of a thousand hills” derived from the many hills and landscapes through the Katuna/Gatuna border where you will be welcomed by a Private Trip representative guide/driver and proceed to Kigali. You will arrive late in the evening and do little but check into your accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 11 : Explore Kigali's Charm and later transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

Have an early breakfast, and afterward, head to the Kigali/Gisozi Genocide Memorial, a poignant but important historical site that provides insights into Rwanda’s past, Visit Markets like the Kimironko for a vibrant shopping experience, where you can buy local crafts, fabrics, and spices, and explore the Inema Arts Center, which showcases contemporary Rwandan art. Unearth the city’s soul as the sun rises with the golden glow, making this journey truly unforgettable.  Return to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation and later head to the Volcanoes National Park arriving late in the evening to relax and wait for the next day’s golden monkey trekking experience.

Day 12 : Golden Monkeys Trekking Experience and Ibyiwacu cultural experience.

Have an early breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing on do’s and don’ts during Golden Monkey trekking by the Volcanoes National Park guides. After the Golden Monkey trek, return to the lodge for lunch and some rest. Later in the evening, have a cultural visit to Iby’Iwacu village where you will have full evening entertainment of the cultural dances. Return to your accommodation for a well-deserved dinner, relishing the day’s extraordinary encounters with the golden monkeys and the local people.

Day 13 : Visit the Magnificent Twin Lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera Lakes and later drive to Kigali International airport to catch your flight back home.

Enjoy an breakfast and go and visit the twin lakes of Bulera & Ruhondo. These are beautiful lakes located at the base of the volcano Muhabura and close to the border with Uganda. They are surrounded by steep hills and large waterfalls with a backdrop of the Virunga volcanic mountains. These twin lakes are great spots to visit and used to be referred to as neglected gems. Their deep blue waters ringed by steep hills and tall waterfalls with the outlines of the nearby Virunga Volcanoes provide a spectacular backdrop. While here if time allows and you are interested will take a boat cruise and be able to spot different bird species. After the experience drive to Kigali International airport to catch your flight back home.
